Soul Devotion at Six towns 1 city carnival

It's always a good feeling bringing soul music to a local crowd and soul devotion did just that at this year's carnival.

The band, dressed in full show regalia took to the stage in front of an unsuspecting audience and treated them to an energetic montage of soul classics.

The crowd couldn't resist getting to their feet and danced along with the girls, as the sun kept smiling and the soul rained down.

Playing in front of a local crowd is the best feeling and doing the music we love makes it just perfect. Hope we get invited back xxx

Soul Devotion travels to the Diamond

A quick trip up the A38 to music venue The Diamond Club, Sutton in Ashfield.

The Diamond, tucked away in a side street was a very large town house sitting all alone like the only surviving building after a bomb strike. The building looked like it had received some very suspect 70's extensions in its time but inside revealed a spacious room, good seating and a well placed bar.

Inside the owners obviously knew how to host live music.  It was clear they'd thought about putting on the best shows with a large stage, properly rigged lights and a rather comfortable green room for the band.  Judging by the walls papered with posters, many performers have enjoyed the Diamond's hospitality.

The Diamond provided their own sound guy and he had his work cut out sound-checking our ten piece band.  Pete percivered, even after the audience started to arrive and made us sound great for the performance.

Early doors consisted of avid soul supporters but as the night progessed we were joined with a younger crowd from the nearby emptied bars.  We had three people celebrating birthdays and the soul dees (4 vocalists), got the birthday revellers involved in true Soul Devotion style.

Stand in drummer Alex showed off his talent working through the set with ease.  Pretty astonishing since he's only started drumming with us in January.  He's with us until March but so is proving to be a real asset to the band.

Judging by the positive vibes on the night, I have not doubt we'll be back at the Diamond very soon.  If you like soul or music inspired by soul then come along and see Soul Devotion in action.  For details of our gigs visit our website http://www.souldevotion.net/

First Gig of the year

Music is a great way of putting your troubles behind you and just getting on with the show, yesterday's gig certainly did that.

We had to contend with redundancy, birthdays, replacement drummer and the first day with our new sound guy but as soon as we start to play, everything falls into place and we give the performance of a lifetime.

Performing is always good for the soul xx

Soul Introductions

Welcome to the fantastic blog for the band Soul Devotion.

The band formed in early 2005, as a 'sister act' to the hugely successful band Commitments Too and have grown from strength to strength, building up a loyal fan base around the UK.

All the great classics are performed, including Aretha, Stevie, Jackson 5 along with some modern day soul inspired songs like Amy Winehouse, Noisettes and Gnarls Barkley.

If you want to find out more about when we are next playing please check out Soul Devotion's Website

Our blog hopes to follow the journey of bringing soul to all!
